The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch wants to fix what has forever been a sticking point for watches – promising 5 days battery life, TIZEN-based Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch also provides sleep and fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, and smart notification with Bixby integration.
After this Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch SM-R800 review, I notice while it provides activity tracking, its outcomes are not like some dedicated fitness tracker or even hybrid variants like the Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatches. But still, it is one of the best alternatives out there to Smartwatch under 300 bucks.
The Galaxy SM-R800 – Design & Display
The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch is well designed and the company has paid fine attention to detail. It’s available in 2 different variants – 42mm and 46mm. if you’re looking at the smaller variant, you get to select 2 colors, Rose gold and midnight black. The bigger model (Samsung Galaxy Watch SM-R800) and my current review variant are only available in silver. If you like large chunky dials, you will have to settle for the later.
Every model also has a rotating bezel to help UI navigation. Compared to utilizing the touch screen feature every time, it’s far simpler and a bit more convenient to utilize the rotating bezel. It provides fine clickable feedback that always allows you to know how much input you’ve dialed in.
This means you do not necessarily have to seem down at the Smartwatch to navigate via its options.
Samsung Galaxy SmartWatch SM-R800 – Usability
The bezel of the watch is finished in black and it complements the silver case extremely well. The company has applied a similar treatment to the 2 buttons on the right side as well. The upper one back key and while the other is home key.
You will also see a mic right below these buttons in the right section. The left side of the smartwatch only houses a speaker.
Turn it around and you’ll see heart monitor sensor in the middle. There is also a feature for wireless charging here. You get a wire-free charger in the box that reminds us of the charger packed with Moto 360 Gen 2. The charging cradle has micro USB wire and the supplied watch charger is rated at 3.5 Watt.
At the hub of the case is a 1.3” AMOLED screen with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass DX Plus for screen protection. Since the display is AMOLED you get a feature always on screen mode. When enabled, the screen doesn’t turn white and black.
You’ll get complete color on the watch faces, which is extremely good. The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch has an IP68 water rating, and the company claims it’s water-resistant up to 5ATM. It’s also a shockproof model and has an aMIL-STD-810G rating.
The Performance
This watch is one of the flagship smartwatch presently available in the market. It is powered by Samsung’s own EXYNOS 9110 processor that performs finely showing no lags and shutters while using the Smartwatch. It comes with 768MB of RAM and comes with four GB storage where you can store songs, which I didn’t make use of. The company’s TIZEN OS is quite working very smoothly on the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch. The UI is simple to control using the rotating bezel.
SM-R800 Smartwatch – Battery Life
Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch is backed by a 478mAh decent battery. Initially, I was utilizing it without any connectivity, I was simply to get around 4-5 days of battery life easily. As soon as I used always on the display feature, the battery life dropped to 3 days of usage. Though, considering a lot of several other brand’s smartwatches die in one or two days, for me this is so good.

Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch SM-R800 Review – Final words
After this Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch SM-R800 review, I find it the most refined watch due to its useful fitness tracking and decent battery life – if you prefer the bigger 46 mm size that we recommended and liked. The entire of this packaged inside a stunning-looking circular black and silver watch that has a rotating bezel for smooth menu navigation.
Be warned 3rd party applications are lacking and its Apple support is limited if you are using Apple phones. This is great for Android fans.
